We are constantly in the sustainable process and do what we can to optimize the hotel's operations in a green direction. We are well underway with replacing to LED bulbs, and our goal for spring 2025 is to have a minimum of 90% of our lighting in this form of energy.
We are also in the process of installing aerators (a nozzle that mixes the water jet with air) on all washbasin faucets to reduce water flow, and thus save the planet's resources.
We will also reach our goal here, spring 2025.
We work to promote sustainable tourism because we believe this can contribute to creating decent jobs that promote healthy economic growth, and thus also promote local products and culture based on a sustainable approach, with room for everyone in collaboration with our local area.
We believe that we have a social responsibility even though we are a smaller hotel; everyone has a place in the Danish labor market. That is why we have employees on both full-time, part-time, student time and in flex jobs, just as we also have several nationalities associated, and are happy to accept interns through, among others, Svendborg Municipality.
Svendborg and the city's residents must experience the hotel's existence as a positive impact on the city and the local area, and not just as a private player. That is why we are, among other things, part of the "Geopark Det Sydfynske Øhav" and also sponsor a number of sports activities to support local sports. In addition, we actively promote Svendborg's various events and attractions throughout the year, and have several stays in collaboration with local players in the area, such as the welfare museum and the archipelago's ferries.
We are constantly working on more green goals because it makes sense both economically, socially and environmentally. We have a green purchasing policy where consideration for the environment and climate is given equal weight with ethics and quality, and in our daily lives we focus on preventing food waste and making the most of the product's lifespan, while also developing the good meal. During renovations, we reuse all furnishings that make sense, and otherwise we donate them to local charities, such as Peder Most Garden or Varmestuen. We like to trade with local, Danish producers and collaborate with TooGoodToGo, we clean without unnecessary chemicals.
Although we are a small hotel in old buildings, we have good access and accessibility throughout the main building and restaurant. There is a lift to the rooms on the first and second floors, and the reception, restaurant and several rooms are on one level, in continuation of each other. If you are a wheelchair or rollator user, we can refer you to the gate behind the restaurant's veranda; in the courtyard there is a tiled chute to the entrance to the reception, and from here on to the rooms or restaurant
