Historic Hotel Ærø is located in the middle of historic Svendborg. The hotel has been idyllically located in the middle of the harbor since 1889, where both sailors and shipowners stopped by to quench their thirst. Our hotel is full of history.

In the interior design, we were inspired by the English colonial style with beautiful wooden headboards, heavy curtains, fine wallpapers and soft carpets.

Some of our hotel rooms have a view of Svendborg harbor – others have a view from the balcony to our cozy courtyard. Here, the geraniums are in full bloom most of the year, and the cozy atmosphere invites you to have a glass of cool white wine at one of the small tables when the sun shines over the city.

On October 1, 2026, Hotel Ærø, together with Hotel Svendborg, Hotel Garni and Hotel Fredericia, will become part of the Funen, family-owned hotel chain Milling Hotels.
After almost 50 years of hotel operations, Halberg is passing the baton to an experienced hotel company with strong Funen roots and values that are close to our own.
For our guests, the change of ownership means, first and foremost, that the familiar continues. Existing bookings and agreements remain valid, and you will continue to meet the same employees and experience the hospitality you know.
With Milling Hotels, we will continue to protect and develop the hotel's local roots and close relationship with the city and the local area. At the same time, we will become part of a larger hotel community with 16 hotels, which provides new opportunities for the hotel's further development.

Hotel Ærø's restaurant will be closed from Friday, December 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM to Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:30 AM.
Overnight accommodation is offered during this period, however without breakfast.
