Not sailed in the South Funen Archipelago yet? Then you’ve got something to look forward to! In the calm waters south off Svendborg there are numerous small islands – both inhabited and uninhabited – that this is quite unique for Denmark. Visit e.g. Ærø, Drejø, Hjortø, Avernakø, Bjørnø or Lyø – or the music festival on Skarø in July.
In the summer season you also take a boat trip around Svendborg Sound with the veteran ferry M/S Helge, and be captivated by the view of idyllic nature, blue water and the many small harbours.
You can also visit the beautiful castle Valdemar Slot or the impressive natural history museum Naturama in Svendborg.
If you like cycling or walking we can especially recommend The Archipelago Trail. A path system stretching more than 200 km that takes you through some of the most beautiful areas in South Funen – and in Denmark as a whole.
